A grand piano elevates any room or stage, and the pianist who sits at it. Yamaha builds one to answer the player: the lightest change of touch reaches the string, so a line can be shaped the way a singer shapes a phrase. It is what Yamaha calls a singing piano.

A grand is thousands of parts, nearly all of them natural. Yamaha selects the woods and works them to fine tolerances, treating each piano as a living thing that settles and improves with playing.

A piano is mostly wood, and wood is affected by the weather. Yamaha seasons the wood for the climate each instrument will live in, so a grand bound for Singapore is prepared for our heat and humidity from the start.
Hard-wearing finishes and laminated components help a grand hold its shape and its tuning through the damp months, when an instrument made for a temperate climate has more to contend with. It is one of the reasons a Yamaha settles so easily into a home or concert stage here.

The most compact CX grand, the C1X carries Yamaha’s full grand character in a small footprint. Superb balance and a rich, even tone make it a natural first grand for a family living room, with a true grand action that does not ask for a large house.
